In this role, you'll play a critical part in managing the financial administration of federally, state, locally, and privately funded contracts and grants that support the College's educational mission. From establishing new grant accounts to monitoring expenditures and ensuring compliance through closeout, you'll help ensure the financial success of programs that positively impact our students and community.
What You'll Do:
As an Accounting Specialist Senior, you will:
- Manage the full post-award financial lifecycle of contracts and grant-funded programs.
- Establish new grant accounts and monitor budgets, expenditures, and financial activity.
- Prepare account reconciliations, financial analyses, billings, reports, cost transfers, and grant closeouts.
- Perform month-end accounting activities and support fiscal year-end closing processes.
- Assist with the preparation of the College's Annual Financial Reports.
- Provide outstanding financial support and guidance to faculty and staff regarding post-award grant administration.
- Participate in financial system enhancements and software implementations.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure compliance with College policies, grant requirements, and accounting standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of related accounting experience involving contracts and grants; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Knowledge of post-award grant and contract financial management.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience monitoring budgets and preparing financial reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and database applications.
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and financial guidelines.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
